So, it is finally fall

A month to the day since fall began, we finally have fall weather. It is finally cold and the pesky bugs, mosquitos and fleas, will finally die off. It's time to get some sweaters, and some cordoroy
pants!

The POD is coming, the POD is coming...

So, today we get a POD delivered to the church where I work. What a wonderful idea this was that someone came up with. Ask people to bring things that are cluttering up their homes and give to people who are coming out of homelessness, into a new apartment or house, with basically nothing to their name. Then, we give them our stuff and they use it and can get on with picking up their lives. Just a really nice thing to do. Costs nothing, but means everything to those who have started over again. I think this is so great, because, instead of the demeaning cycle of homelessness and no hope or faith for something better than that, that EmbraceRichmond is giving people their lives back. Remember, their are no hearses with luggage racks... so send the extra stuff on its way to someone who can use it.

Today is Thursday, October 16, 2008

So, this is where I post my thoughts, whether they are worthy, or if anyone wants to see them.
Today, a dear lady I know is laying in a hospital bed, knowing that she is dying. But, she tells everyone, she is ready and almost happy that she will see those she misses "on the other side."
So, I am melancholy for her passing that is to come, but jubilant that she will be released from pain and this shell that fails us, ultimately. Much like my own mother, this lady has not complained or been a burden to anyone through her illness of over six months. She continues to laugh and her good spirit shines through. May we all have this strength at the end and this assuredness of what is beyond our sight...
